Applications and benefits
Art therapy can be carried out alone or in combination with another form of psychotherapy or medication. Good results have been shown with anxiety disorders, depression or PTSD.
Visual expression is particularly suitable for children and young people, as they have not yet ‘unlearnt’ their own creativity. School-related problems such as bullying, structural problems in a school class but also low self-confidence can be alleviated. Children with ADHD can also get to know their feelings better and strengthen their ability to concentrate through artistic work.
Sometimes you need some support to cope with stress. Painting and working with clay can work wonders here. Relaxing exercises in a group can also be useful here.
