Art therapy is a beautiful and powerful way to help individuals find back to their peace of mind. It is a form of psychotherapy that uses art media as its primary mode of expression and communication.

Art therapy is beneficial for individuals of all ages. While it’s often associated with children, the benefits extend to adults, seniors, and teenagers as well.

Art psychotherapy emphasizes the process of creation rather than the aesthetic quality of the artwork. Through artistic expression, individuals can explore their emotions, thoughts, and experiences in a safe and supportive environment.

About

My name is Sigrid Sandker

I am an artist and art therapist

Over the years, I have come across a recurring effect in my artistic work: My state of mind changes during the painting process, pottery gives me a deep sense of calm and taking up a problematic subject and translating it into pictures changes my view of it.

I experienced the effects of art therapy on myself and decided to make it my profession. As an art therapist, I can do what I love doing most: maintaining an inspiring interaction with people, helping them and working artistically.
I approached the profession step by step, first completing a diploma in art therapy, followed by a post-university programe with hundreds of hours of practical training.

Receiving people in my own practice, offering them a safe and calm space where they can express themselves freely, is a fulfilling activity.
However, I do not work exclusively in my own studio: group therapies (discussion groups, interventions with school classes) can for example take place on my premises or outside.
